Description
Ten thought-provoking installations of temporary, large-scale, site-specific artwork have been created for the 26-acre grounds of Johns Hopkins’ Evergreen Museum & Library as part of the exhibition "Sculpture at Evergreen 6: Simultaneous Presence." Developed by individuals and teams of artists and architects from across the country, the interventions respond to Evergreen’s 150-year history, diverse collections, and natural and architectural environments, and connect them to current civic, national and global concerns.
The exhibition is guest curated by architect Ronit Eisenbach and artist Jennie Fleming, and features new work by Yolande Daniels (New York, N.Y.); Myeongbeom Kim (Chicago, Ill.); Joel Lamere + Cynthia Gunadi (Boston, Mass.); Eric Leshinsky, C. Ryan Patterson & Fred Scharmen (Baltimore, Md.); Matter Practice (Brooklyn, N.Y.); Yukiko Nakashima (Astoria, N.Y.); Meredith Nickie (New York, N.Y.); Taeg Nishimoto (San Antonio, Texas); David Page (Baltimore, Md.); and Shannon Young (Baltimore, Md.). The sculptures are documented in a complimentary visitor’s guide, containing a map with the location of each work, available at the museum shop.
Exhibition is FREE and on view throughout the museum grounds, Tuesday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday–Sunday, noon–5 p.m. (Gates locked promptly at 5 p.m.)
