Hailed by the New York Times as “exceptionally fine chamber musicians,” the Apollo Trio (Curtis Macomber, violin, Michael Kannen, cello, and Marija Stroke, piano) has captivated audiences since 1997. These three masterful chamber musicians, among them Peabody’s Director of Chamber Music, Michael Kannen, present three of their favorite works: Beethoven’s Kakadu Variations, in which a simple tune is transformed from scowl to smile; Leon Kirchner’s powerful and expressive First Piano Trio, and Dvorak’s celebrated Piano Trio in F Minor. Music in the Great Hall has always been special to concert goers. In addition to a wonderful concert, our patrons enjoy a relaxed wine and cheese reception at which they can greet the artists, ample onsite free parking, and a pre-concert conversation with MIGH founder Virginia Reinecke and Artistic Director Lura Johnson.
