Description
Faust is generously underwritten in part by Claire and Allan Jensen.
By Charles Gounod, based on the novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Sung in French with English subtitles.
Gounod’s version of the age-old battle between good and evil is a treasure chest of glorious arias, gorgeous duets, and stirring choruses and ensembles. Our production, especially designed to showcase our newly renovated theatre, will take place in contemporary times, giving the powerful story a new and vibrant immediacy.
Faust, jaded and lonely, has sold his soul to the devil in exchange for eternal youth. The innocent Marguerite becomes the pawn in this satanic deal, and she loses everything, including her sanity, as the plot unfolds. Our production will offer a new dénouement to the story that we assure you will make you experience this opera as you never have before.
STARRING: Stefania Dovhan (Marguerite), Bryan Hymel (Faust), Lee Poulis (Valentin), Kristopher Irmiter (Mephistopheles)
FEATURING: The Concert Artists of Baltimore Orchestra conducted by James Meena. The production will be conceived and directed by Bernard Uzan in a co-production with Arizona Opera.
