On Saturday, September 22, Larry’s Ride and Run returns to Spring Meadow Farms with three different bicycle routes, a fun run and post-race activities for a great cause. Larry’s Ride and Run continues to honor avid biker Larry Bensky who tragically lost his life while biking in 2010. Larry’s Ride and Run is a Bike Maryland fundraising event that raises awareness of bicyclists and bicycle safety issues. With three different bike ride routes and a 3.6-mile run, there is something for individuals of all physical abilities. Following the bike rides and run, all registered participants, including non-bikers and non-runners, will enjoy a barbeque, kid's events, music, a farmer's market and much more. All friends and family are welcome to attend, participate and enjoy the day! On April 6, 2010, 43-year-old Larry was struck by a car and killed while bicycling on Butler Road, near Falls Road, in Baltimore County. Larry left behind two daughters, a wife, six brothers and many others who had the pleasure of knowing him. Event proceeds directly advance the advocacy efforts of Bike Maryland, a non-profit dedicated to promoting bicycling, increasing safety, improving conditions and providing a voice for all bicyclists in Maryland. Help raise awareness of bicyclists and bicycle safety issues to prevent similar tragedies by celebrating Larry’s life, one mile at a time.
